Talking About Modesty Without Shame

In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety.

Start with dignity, not danger

When modesty is taught as protection from other people's behaviour, girls learn that their bodies are a problem to manage.

Teach it instead as dignity: you are worth more than being looked at, and you get to decide what you present.

Let her have taste

Modest does not mean shapeless or joyless. Colour, pattern, fit and creativity all belong to her.

Shop together. Say yes often enough that your occasional no carries weight.

Dignity persuades where shame only silences.
